Below are the answers to many of the questions we’ve received regarding our products. We’ve tried to answer them as thoroughly as possible, and we highly recommend reading through them if you have any questions. To read more about the background of this program, please first see our About page.

WHAT IS INCLUDED?

What do I get when I buy a CD?

Please see our Shop for the different options available now. Of the packages available now, both include a CD and full lyrics.  The Teacher’s Packet includes an additional CD with the music tracks (no singing), 30 lyrics handouts, and a basic Teacher’s Guide explaining how to use the CD in a classroom. [Additional supplements to the Teacher’s Packet, including worksheets, games, quizzes, and more, will hopefully be available for purchase soon.]

How long is the CD? How many tracks?

The CD includes 9 songs, one for each Rebbe from the Baal Shem Tov to our Rebbe. Each song is about two minutes long, for a total of about 18 minutes.

Who sings on the CD?

The songs are sung by a group of young girls from Bais Rivkah and recorded in a professional studio, accompanied by beautiful music played by Chony Milecki Studios.

What are the songs all about?

Within each of the songs are woven dozens of facts and details about that Rebbe, including (wherever possible) special dates (birth, histalkus, chag hegeulah), family members (parents, Rebbetzin, children), significant places, accomplishments, niggunim, seforim, and more. Believe it or not, all written in rhyme, making all that knowledge easy and even fun to remember.

Where did all the information come from?

Many hours went into the research for these songs, and many mechanchim and Rabbanim were consulted in the process. Examples of sources used are the Introduction to the Hayom Yom, the book The Rabbeim by Rabbi Sholom Avtzon, and Kitzur Toldos Chabad by Rabbi Y.Y. Kaminetsky.
Many thanks to Rabbi Leibel Newman, Rabbi Levi Garelik, Rabbi Mendy Mellul, Rabbi Levik Blau and the many others who gave of their time to review the songs and verify lesser-known details about our Rabbeim.

What tunes are used in the CD?

The songs are written to the tune of fast-paced niggunim, and where possible, we tried to choose ones composed by (or from the times of) each respective Rebbe.

Can I hear a sample of the CD?

Sure. Click here to listen now online.

WHO IS IT FOR?

What age group is this program geared for?

The Chabad Generations Program was originally created with a Lubavitch Girls middle school in mind. However, based on the feedback we have received, we believe it can also be enjoyed in lower elementary school, and even in high school for chidons and the like. The words are clear and simple enough for young children, but at the same time not too childish for older teens. And of course, the information is classic. Read more on our About page.

In what language are the songs written?

The songs are written in English, but contain many classic Hebrew and Yiddish words where appropriate (ex: elter zeide, histalkus, menuchaso kavod, dor hashvi’i),

Can I share my CD with other teachers in my school?

You are welcome to play the CD for others, but please do not make copies or share the CD or soundtracks. The funding that comes in from CD purchases is what enables us to continue producing, and we need your help to support that. On that note, please do encourage your friends and coworkers to purchase their own copy.

Can I play the CD with my young sons (under 9) around?

We asked a Rav about this, and it seems that there isn’t a clear psak on this. Please ask your own Posek for his ruling.

Can I use this program for my Chabad House?

We wouldn’t recommend it for the typical Chabad House, as the songs and information contain many Yiddish/Hebrew words that many people would not be familiar with. However, if you feel that your Chabad House might still appreciate it in whichever way, please feel free to purchase it for them.

Can this program be used in Boys Schools?

Actually, it can. The Basic Teacher’s Packet includes a CD of the music itself (without anyone singing), which can be used together with the written lyrics to learn the songs. We may also produce a men’s version in the future if there is enough interest.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Is there a recommended method for teaching the songs and information?

Yes, there are many details and helpful aids included in our Teacher’s Guide, which comes with our Basic Teacher’s Packet. Additional worksheets, games, quizzes, and more will be available in the full-version Teacher’s Guide, which we hope to make available soon. Orders can be made through our Shop.

Can this be used on a school-wide level?

Certainly. The songs contain an incredible amount of information that can be very helpful for many types of school-wide campaigns, such as a chidon or a hachana for Yomei D’pagra.

How long does it take for students to learn the songs by heart?

The songs are written to fast, catchy, tunes, and in great rhymes that are easy to learn. Of course, how fast student learns them depends how often they sing them, and what else is done to augment the learning. We’ve had our students learn one song a week, learning it in class, singing it at the beginning of each lesson, and reviewing it for homework every week. Even students generally considered “below-average” had no problem keeping up. If you would do it without the homework review, it would probably take about 2-3 weeks for the students to memorize each song.

How often do you recommend songs be sung?

We like to sing the songs with our students as part of our daily routine, which we believe will help them remember them for years to come.

Can these songs be used during Sefira?

The music-free version can be provided to teachers upon request, through our Contact form here.

Can I get the editable words online to use in another form, such as in a quiz or the like?

Quizzes and editable lyics will iyh be available for purchase in the future, as supplements to our Basic Teacher’s Packet. As of now, only a hard copy of the lyrics is available, as detailed in the Basic Teacher’s Packet product description.
